Since 2012, Paul KOHLER works essentially on an abstract representation of nature, elements and people who inspires him. When he starts to paint, he knows where he is going, he has already thought it through.
PKO starts with a first acrylic layer, then he continues with a pictorial layer made with a brush, India ink and acrylic painting. Afterward he deconstructs the subject in order to loose track of reality. He then inflicts to the canvas different color and matter treatments with home made tools.
This technique needs to be mastered in order to have the right amount of matter at the right place.
Every Painting is an adventure knowing where it will start but not knowing where it will end.
The Canvas, can mutate during the creation processus according to the state of mind or the inspiration of PKO.
The result could be a landscape, dots and lines but always in harmony with colors and shapes.
India ink and acrylic painting blend so perfectly together it is like they were meant for each other.
Lastly the painting is bordered with black and a final varnish layer before being hanged for our appreciation.
